Castilla's unbeaten run comes to an end

1 week(s)

Real Madrid Castilla were unable to take the points in their clash with Ceuta at the Alfredo Di StéfanoRaúl's boys enjoyed a host of decent chances against the group leaders but a 71st-minute Zalazar strike handed the visitors the win. The defeats means our youth team were unable to extend on their impressive 15-match unbeaten run.

The game got underway in an evenly-matched manner, before Castilla managed to take control of possession as the minutes ticked by. Despite their dominance of the ball, the academy side were unable to craft any real chances of note and half-time came around with the scores level.

After the break, the visitors stepped on the gas, and Castilla did well to match them. On 54’, Chema enjoyed the best opportunity of the game so far, connecting with a vicious shot from the edge of the box that the visiting goalkeeper was able to gather at the second attempt. The home side continued to push on in search of the opener, and 12 minutes later, Gonzalo was inches away from latching onto D. Jiménez's cross.

Just as Raúl's boys were enjoying their best spell of the game, the away side got their goal when Zalazar struck with 71 minutes on the clock. Shortly after coming off the bench, Campos nearly levelled with a superb effort headed for the top corner, but Vallejo did very well to keep him out (81’). Our team deserved more but ultimately the single goal decided the game and attentions now turn to their next league fixture, when they host Marbella at the Di Stéfano (Sunday, 6:00 pm CEST).
