Castilla defeat Marbella at the Di Stéfano

5 day(s)

Castilla ground out a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Marbella at the Di Stéfano. In Primera Federación matchday 35, our team took the lead at the start of the match with a superb goal by D. Jiménez in the second minute. The scoreboard did not change again until the second half. After emerging from the changing rooms, Raúl's team extended their lead thanks to Gonzalo, who finished past the keeper with a first-time finish from inside the area (57'). The opponents were persistent and twice managed to pull a goal back (58‘ and 91’). However, Madrid had already managed to increase their lead in the 65th minute thanks to Loren Zúñiga's goal.
The game started well for the Madrid reserve team. D. Jiménez took advantage of a rebound from a cross and put Madrid ahead with a superb left-footed shot from the edge of the area, just before the two-minute mark. Marbella pressed and came to control some phases of the game. In the 22nd minute, Edwards tried his luck from range and his effort was turned wide by Fran González. Before going into the changing rooms, Castilla were the team that best made use of the spaces on the flanks to generate danger, without managing to increase the score.
In the second half, the Marbella side quickly looked for an equaliser, but Real Madrid were more precise in front of goal. After a great team move, in the 57th minute, Gonzalo placed a low shot past the keeper from inside the box, after a great assist from Pol Fortuny to put the ball in space. Marbella reacted immediately and decreased the deficit (2-1) with a goal from Callejón in the next minute.
Castilla were not giving up and within ten minutes they were back in front. A great pass from Víctor Muñoz found Loren Zúñiga, who struck with the outside of his right foot past the onrushing keeper to make the score 3-1 in the 65th minute. Madrid continued to create chances. First it was Gonzalo, who hit the post in the 68th minute. Then, a shot by Víctor Muñoz went just wide in the 79th minute. In stoppage time (91'), Soto pulled one back for the visitors, but that didn't stop our team from taking the victory to reach 49 points with three games left to play.
