Castilla draw at the Alfredo Di Stéfano

1 week(s)

A draw for Real Madrid Castilla on matchday 29 of the Primera Federación against Real Murcia. There were no goals in a match marked by the wind and the heavy rain that fell on the Alfredo Di Stéfano, although both teams had opportunities to tip the scoreboard in their favour. It’s the eleventh game in a row without defeat for Raúl's men, who pick up a point against a direct rival and remain in the playoff race.

Both teams had spells when they were on top in the first half. David Jiménez was Castilla's danger man on the flank and he was prominent in most of the dangerous moments. The clearest came in the 33rd minute, when Gazzaniga saved his team with a great stop as the Madrid full-back flashed a fierce cross-shot across the goal. Shortly before the break, Murcia had their chance through Burón, but his shot went wide.

The rain intensified as the minutes passed, but our team gave a strong second half performance and were relentless in the search for the opener. Gazzaniga saved his team again by reading Gonzalo, who came close from Jacobo’s low cross after a great individual move. Murcia could have scored from a 78th minute corner, but Saveljich's shot hit the post and the same player was sent off shortly after for a tackle on Gonzalo. Castilla pushed until the end, but the match ended 0-0.
