Nuri Şahin and Julian Brandt spoke to the media in the press room at the Santiago Bernabéu the day before Real Madrid's Champions League matchday three clash with Borussia Dortmund (9 pm CEST). The coach, a former Madrid player, discussed the clash: “Mentally it's not enough to beat Madrid. They're the champions and we need to give everything. We want everything to go in our favour.”
“It's always been a dream to play for Madrid. My son was born in this city and it's a privilege to be reunited tomorrow, it means a lot to me. It'll always be special, not only because of football, but also because of the family. We want to match them and play our football. We have to be brave, we have started the competition well and we want to carry on.”
Arda Güler
“I have a very good opinion of him, I hope he wins many trophies with Madrid and with Turkey. He's doing well. He's like a little brother to me, we talk a lot. I hope he has a very good future.”
Ancelotti
“He's a winner. For me, he's the coach who has the best relationship with his players. He's an example. If I win half of what he has won, I'll die very happy.”
Brandt: “We're here to play our game”
“We can't allow them space or time to score, we're facing the elite of world football, they have a lot of top players. Defence will be important, but we're not here just to defend, we're here to play our game.”
The Bernabéu
“There will be an incredible atmosphere (at the Santiago Bernabéu), but we'll also have the support of our fans. We want to play our game and we have to deal with that atmosphere.”
