Madrid cruise to victory at the Di Stéfano

1 month(s)

Real Madrid brought the first month of the year to a close with six victories from the seven matches played. Our team won convincingly against Espanyol at the Alfredo Di Stéfano stadium in a match with debuts for both Yasmim, Real Madrid's new signing, and Irune, a Real Madrid B youth player. The Madridistas dominated the match from start to finish and took the lead thanks to first-half goals from Lakrar and Athenea. In the second half, Linda C., Redondo and M. Méndez put the gloss on our team's victory.
Linda C. was prominent in the first sighting of goal with a shot from the edge of the box that went over the crossbar (5'). Five minutes later, Shei put a good cross into the box and our team claimed a penalty for a pull by Amaia on Bruun. In the 38th minute, Weir played a magnificent pass to Bruun in behind the opposition defense, but Mar prevented the Danish player from scoring with a great stop from the one-on-one. From the ensuing corner kick, Lakrar finished after a scramble between several players to make it 1-0.
Real Madrid cut loose
In the 45th minute, just a minute after claiming another penalty for a tackle on AngeldahlBruun could have added to Real Madrid's lead with a shot that hit the post. Athenea eventually did so in stoppage time, picking the ball up on the edge of the box, dribbling past the Espanyol defense and beating Mar with a fantastic left-footed finish.

After the break, it was more of the same: Real Madrid dominance. Six minutes after the restart, Linda C. made it 3-0 with a right-footed thunderbolt inside the area that found the bottom corner. Toril's team wanted more and Redondo, who had just come on, added the fourth when she headed in Eva Navarro's powerful shot that had come back off the crossbar (65'). M. Méndez rounded off the scoring with the fifth and final goal in stoppage time.
