Reigning European champions Real Madrid will play the Intercontinental Cup final on 18 December at Lusail Stadium (Doha, Qatar). The five-match tournament, organised by FIFA, kicked off on 22 September with the clash between Al Ain, winners of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League 2023-2024, and Auckland City FC, winners of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Champions League.
Al Ain lost in Match 2 against Al Ahly of Egypt, winners of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League. Match 3 will be played on 11 December between CONCACAF Champions Cup winners CF Pachuca and the winner of Conmebol's Copa Libertadores, to be determined on 30 November. The winner of this match then takes on Ahly in Match 4 on Saturday 14 December. The winner will meet Real Madrid as they play for the trophy on 18 December in Doha, Qatar, at the Lusail Stadium (7pm).
