Gonzalo's stunner secures win for Castilla

1 month(s)

Real Madrid Castilla secured a significant win against Hércules on league matchday six at the Alfredo Di Stéfano. Our reserve team, who have now gone four games unbeaten, had a great game which was decided by a superb goal from Gonzalo in the 58th minute. The Madrid striker hit a perfect right-footed shot from outside the box into the top corner of the Alicante goal to seal the three points.

Both teams had their fair share of chances in the first half. Castilla started better and created a number of chances to take the lead, Jacobo's header that went wide in the 8th minute being one example. As the minutes ticked by, Hercules stepped up a gear and also had a chance to open the scoring, but Fran González saved well from Coscia's shot.
Our team continued to look for a goal after the break and their persistence was finally rewarded. Gonzalo drove into the three-quarter area and from there he unleashed a powerful strike that flew into the top left corner of Carlos Abad's goal.

Castilla took the lead and, shortly after, Fran denied his opponents an equaliser. In the 70th minute, Víctor Muñoz was on the cusp of scoring another superb goal, but the referee disallowed the goal for a previous foul. The game opened up as the minutes went by, but in the end the three points were not to leave the Di Stéfano.
