Courtois: "The defensive commitment from the team was outstanding"

Courtois discussed Real Madrid's win over Juventus in the last 16 of the Club World Cup. The goalkeeper, who kept his second clean sheet of the tournament, said this: "The defensive commitment from the whole team was outstanding. That's what counts, we did a great job. It's always better when you don't concede."
"It depends on the moment of the game and the movements of the opposition. If everyone runs like they did today or like they did against Salzburg, it's very difficult for teams to score goals against us. I think we had a lot of chances in the second half, but their goalkeeper was really good. Luckily, we managed to score and I think we defended well."
Opponents in the quarter-finals
"If we could face Sergio Ramos it would be great. We know them less than Dortmund, but every game is difficult and we have to respect our opponents. That's what makes the tournament so good."
What would you improve about this tournament?
"There are some nuances to the tournament, such as the dates on which to play. For example, playing the Nations League just before isn't ideal and it doesn't allow you to rest. We have to look for more balance and it will be a very good tournament."
Veterans
“We're all very open with each other, anyone can say anything they want, even an 18-year-old can tell me something. Just because I'm 33, it doesn't mean they can't say anything to me.”
Trent
“He could have provided several assists already in the tournament. His previous assist against Pachuca was excellent. In training, his striking is unbelievable, his free-kicks and corners are on another level. I don't think I've seen anyone with his quality in striking and crossing. As a goalkeeper, he's a nightmare at times. He keeps you on your toes and forces you to work hard to make stops. He makes us improve."
Improvement
"I think we keep improving. We watch a lot of videos, we're trying to improve and every game is going more smoothly. This is the right way and hopefully we can make it to the final."
