Carlo Ancelotti spoke in the press room at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium and gave his thoughts on Real Madrid‘s win over Alavés in matchday seven of LaLiga: "They gave us four or five yellow cards for protesting. The referees' way of judging has changed and we have to get used to it. Whether it's fair or not, we have to avoid protesting and adapt to the new rules".
Mbappé
"He's fine. He was a bit tired and asked me to come off to avoid problems".
The last 10 minutes
"That's football. When you think the game is over, all it takes is a little slip-up for them to get the first goal. Then the confidence of the opponent goes up. We certainly don't want it to, but it can happen sometimes. It happened and it'll happen a lot of times in football. The team played very well for 60 minutes and we take confidence from that".
On Luis García Plaza's claims
"I haven't seen the replay, so I can't comment. We have spoken about it, but after the game there was no confrontation".
What did you speak to the referee about?
"I told him that I thought the six yellow cards for protesting were too much and that I have to do my job to prevent my players from doing this. We spoke about it straight away without any problems".
Fixtures
"The team played well, they handled the ball looking for chances in transition and with through balls. We're getting better and it suits us because the schedule is very demanding. We've come back well after the break and we want to continue like this for Sunday's game, which is going to be very tough".
The refereeing
"We have to assess the issue of yellow cards for protesting, we'll assess it amongst ourselves. I don't know why the captain was yellow-carded for talking, this is something that only the referee knows the answer to".
The substitutions
"I put on Vallejo to give Militão some rest. I changed the formation when they scored the goal, which wasn't Vallejo's fault, but because we were a bit sloppy, and I put in three centre-backs in for the last few minutes. Jacobo had to come in for Rüdiger, but when they scored the second goal I wanted to have Antonio on the pitch".
Bellingham's form
"He's improving. He set up Mbappé's goal and had a very solid game. He has to get used to getting into the box more like he did last year, but it's a lot more difficult against a low block like Alavés. I ask Bellingham to do this kind of work, not to score goals".
