1-2: Under-19s lose with final kick of the game

2 week(s)

Real Madrid's Under-19s lost to Borussia Dortmund in their third UEFA Youth League fixture. Our team were the better of the two sides in the first half and headed into the break in the lead thanks to De Llanos' effort (8’). Arbeloa's boys had chances to win the game after the break, but Cherny levelled from the spot on 64’ before Etcibasi decided the clash in the final minute.

The Under-19s' intensity and positive possession saw them take the initiative in the first half, with all the chances falling their way. Our team made the most of their first opportunity to make it 1-0 following some fine link-up play that saw a vicious ball whipped across the box by Óscar Mesa from the left. De Llanos ghosted in from deep to turn the ball home and give the madridista side the lead. The game was being played at Real Madrid's pace and Yáñez was involved in several dangerous moves, though the best chance of the half fell to Aimar, whose vicious volley was just too close to Lisewski.

Madrid continued to look dominant following the restart. However, in an isolated Dortmund move forward, Etcibasi tangled with Aguado in the box and went to ground. Cherny converted the resulting penalty to make it 1-1. The German outfit were buoyed by the goal, but again it was our team who came closest to making it 2-1 on a number of occasions. Lisewski got the better of Yáñez in a one-on-one with 80 on the clock, and shortly afterwards, he kept out a Pol Rivera effort from point-blank range. Then, with the final kick of the game, Etcibasi made it 2-1.
