The match started evenly and both teams had their chances to open the scoring. After several forays into the opposition area, our team took the lead in the 22nd minute after a great move by Weir. The Scottish player received the ball in the box and outwitted the defender with a perfect feint before finishing with a cross-shot. In added time at the end of the first half, Amaiur equalised with a shot from outside the box.
After the restart, Athenea came close to restoring Real Madrid‘s lead, but a good save from Elene Lete averted the danger. Shortly afterwards, Bruun’s shot crashed against the post. Madrid came close to making it 2-1 on several occasions, but the second half ended goalless.
Toletti and Linda Caicedo clinch it in extra time
Extra time began with Madrid laying siege to Lete's goal. After several attempts, Toletti broke the deadlock with a shot from the edge of the box after an assist from Caicedo in the 96th minute. The Whites weren't satisfied and, in the 106th minute, Linda Caicedo made it 3-1 with a great individual effort.
