Copa de la Reina campaign comes to an end

1 month(s)

Real Madrid fell to defeat in the second leg of the Copa de la Reina semi-final. Our team have been eliminated from the cup by Barcelona at the Estadio Johan Cruyff, despite some promising opening minutes for the madridistas. The visitors looked to get on the scoresheet with balls in behind for Athenea, but Patri had the hosts ahead inside 24 minutes when she beat Misa in a one-on-one.
Three minutes after the break, Pajor made it 2-0 when she pounced on a poor touch by our defender and blasted past Misa. Angeldahl could have reduced the deficit after Toletti whipped in the corner but she just failed to get on the end of it (58’).
With 68 minutes gone, Pajor completed her brace from a Rolfö cross to make it 3-0. Athenea hit back shortly afterwards, dribbling around María León and unleashing a fierce effort that whistled past the post. Bruun made it 3-1 in injury time from Olga's cross but the defeat means the madridistas now turn their attentions to their upcoming meeting with Deportivo de la Coruña at the Alfredo Di Stéfano (Saturday, 12:00pm CET).
