Another victory for Madrid on their return to league action

6 day(s)

Real Madrid returned from the international break as they left off: winning. Alberto Toril's side beat Eibar at the Estadio Municipal de Ipurúa, producing a very complete performance. Goals in the second half by FellerLinda C. and Bruun, sealed our team's 21st league victory, keeping up the pace at the top of the table. Throughout the match, Madrid generated multiple chances, even hitting the woodwork on four occasions.
Madrid got stronger over the course of the first half. In the 23rd minute, they almost took the lead with a long-range left-footed thunderbolt from Weir that crashed off the right-hand post. In the next move, Angeldahl shot just wide from a pass by Linda C. Toril's team maintained the siege with a string of chances. Astralaga twice prevented the 0-1 in the 27th minute, after a reflex save from two consecutive Weir shots; and two minutes later, Feller failed to finish Athenea's cross. Weir tried again before the break, but hit the crossbar with a difficult left-footed shot.
Madrid sign off a perfect second half
After the break, Toril gave Silvia her debut in an official match, and Madrid were rewarded for their efforts in the 50th minute. Yasmim put in a precise cross for Feller, who headed home to make it 0-1. Our team wanted more, but it was the post that came to the Eibar rescue in two practically consecutive shots by Alba Redondo (58th and 60th minutes). Linda C. extended the lead after some magic down the left flank. The Colombian, after getting to the edge of the box, took shape and unleashed an unstoppable right-footed shot to make it 0-2 in the 79th minute.
Madrid were dominating the game and looking to add to their lead. With just a few minutes to go, Weir was on target, but her goal was ruled out for offside. However, as a result of the team's insistence, Bruun scored in stoppage time after beating the opposing goalkeeper in a one-on-one. Real Madrid have now added a 21st league victory.
