Real Madrid made history in Abu Dhabi by winning their seventh world championship title. The Whites beat Al Ain in the final, 4-1, to clinch the trophy. Modrić scored the first goal of the game with a shot from outside the box. Llorente, Ramos and Nader, in his own goal, scored the other goals for Madrid.
In the semi-final of that edition, Real Madrid beat Kashima Antlers 3-1. Bale scored a hat-trick against the Japanese side and was voted player of the tournament.
