Fede Valverde analysed the match at the Estadio Da Luz. The Real Madrid captain said: "Benfica are a great team, they have great players and we knew it was going to be a difficult game. They weren't on a very good run and that's why we also believed it was going to be an important game for them as it was for us."
 
"We played well until our first goal. After that, we relaxed. They played their game very well, defended very well and when they attacked, they created a lot of danger for us and that hurt us."
