Victory at the Di Stéfano ahead of international break

1 month(s)

Real Madrid secured another three points at the Alfredo Di Stéfano before the international break. The Whites beat Real Sociedad for the fourth time this season and registered their 20th win in the Liga F. The Madridistas took the lead through Weir, who became the club's all-time leading scorer after surpassing Esther (40 goals). In the second half, Møller and Athenea rounded off the scoring. Real Madrid return to the competition on 12 April against Eibar.

The Madridistas got off to the best possible start and took just four minutes to take the lead. Feller played a fantastic pass to Weir in behind the Basque defence and the Scotswoman raced into the box to slot the ball past Lete. Angeldahl almost doubled the lead with a shot from the edge of the area that skimmed the crossbar (30').

The visitors also threatened, but the fine work of Misa and the defence prevented them from finding a way through. On the stroke of half-time, Weir had a chance to make it two when she picked up the ball in the box and, after a brilliant piece of skill, produced a shot that was parried away by Lete.

Madrid increase their lead
In the second half, Feller tried her luck with a strike from just inside the area that went narrowly wide of the post (50'). The visitors' riposte came five minutes later with a shot from Eizagirre that Misa turned away. In the 71st minute, Bruun, shortly after coming on, capitalised on a mistake at the back and linked up with Møller, who made no mistake and grabbed the team's second goal. And six minutes later, Bruun again laid the ball off to Athenea, who struck a fierce right-footed drive past the keeper and just inside the post  to make it 3-0.
