Toril: “It's a good result, but we have to keep going”

Alberto Toril spoke to Realmadrid TV after Real Madrid’s victory over Arsenal in the first leg of the Women’s Champions League quarter-finals: “We played well in the first half and in the second half we had to dig in and we made the most of the chance we had to score a goal. It's a very good result, but we have to keep going. Well done to the players, they did a great job and made a huge effort. They performed very well in the game and we're happy about that.”

“I think in the first half, especially in terms of football and as a team, they were very good. We understood where the spaces were very well. We let them come forward to exploit them at the back. They had a hard time adjusting the pressing. They also put you under pressure, they're physically strong players and we knew had to dig in. In the Champions League, these are very important games that you have to know how to play and that have a lot of mini-battles within the games and I think we were very good.”

“Defensively, we made some mistakes at other times, but I think that in today's game, they were very good. We didn't concede too much, we defended inside and outside situations properly. It was a great team effort, that's all we could ask for. Now we have to relax a bit and prepare for the next game.”
