Through to the quarter-finals of the Copa de la Reina
3 day(s)
Real Madrid beat Villarreal at the Ciudad Deportiva José Manuel Llaneza to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Copa de la Reina. Our team dominated from start to finish in a match in which Redondo scored the first goal in the 30th minute and Teresa put the game to bed with a stunning strike in the 62nd. Toril's side bade farewell to 2024 in the best possible way and are now waiting to see who they will face in the next round.
It didn't take long for Madrid to seize control of the ball. However, whilst enjoying the lion's share of possession, they lacked precision with their passing in the final third. The Whites gradually got closer and closer to their opponents' area until Redondo managed to open the scoring. Teresa turned on the style to play a great through ball to the striker, who subtly lobbed the keeper.
Madrid looked to double their lead in the second half. After several attempts, Eva Navarro came close with a shot that crashed against the crossbar. The second would come in the 62nd minute when Teresa capitalised on the keeper's poor clearance to hammer home from a distance.
Madrid continued to look for a third, but they did so in vain and the game ended 2-0. Madrid's next LaLiga F fixture is away to Atlético Madrid on 5 January (12:00pm CET).
