Resounding victory at the Di Stéfano

2 week(s)

Real Madrid suffered, but got their fifth consecutive league win. Against Madrid CFF our team took three more points to close out an April full of victories at the Alfredo Di StéfanoRedondo (‘15) and Angeldahl (’24) put Madrid ahead before the visitors pulled one back in the 41st minute. At the start of the second half, Redondo made it 3-1, but their opponents equalised with two goals in three minutes (51‘ and 53’). Shortly before the end, Villafañe scored an own goal (81') to give Toril's side a 4-3 lead. The final minutes of the match were dizzying. Weir continued widening the lead (85‘), Angeldahl celebrated her brace (91’) and L.Caicedo (96') completed the rout.

Madrid got off to a good start. Our team laid siege to the opposition box and the first goal was not long in coming. Athenea was the orchestrator of a slick move to get into the area, putting in a low cross for Redondo, who had an easy finish from inside the box.
The second came soon after, after a recovery in the opposition half left Angeldahl in position to surprise Paola with a powerful long-range shot from 30 metres out to make it 2-0. Before the end of the first half, Nautnes pulled one back in one of the few dangerous chances the visitors had in the first 45 minutes.

Madrid CFF equalise
Real Madrid emerged after the restart extremely focused and the third came as a result of their efforts. Redondo took advantage of a defensive error by the opposition to complete her brace and put Toril's side 3-1 up. However, Madrid CFF levelled the scores soon after, with goals from Nautnes and Andonova in the space of just three minutes.

Toril's side end up cutting loose
The match became a back-and-forth affair. A Villafañe own goal in the 81st minute put Madrid ahead again. Shortly afterwards, Weir put the visitors ahead again with a shot from inside the box (85'). In stoppage time, Angeldahl completed her brace and L. Caicedo added to the scoreline with a fine run into the box to make it 7-3.
