Real Madrid triumph in Granada

5 day(s)

Real Madrid beat Granada in the Liga F matchday 28 to extend their good run of results in the competition. In a hard-fought encounter, Toril's side took all three points on their visit to the Nuevo Los Cármenes stadium. Weir gave Madrid the lead after 12 minutes, but the home side restored parity through Edna in the 72nd minute. Madrid continued to push forward in search of victory.  Linda Caicedo made the effort count by scoring the winner in the 85th minute. With this result, the Madrid players have now won their sixth consecutive game and have won all their games away from home (14).
The home side had the first chance when Edna broke through after a good pass behind the defence, but Chavas saved from a one-on-one and M. Méndez turned the rebound behind for a corner. However, it was Real Madrid who opened the scoring in the 12th minute. From the left, Yasmim fizzed in a venomous cross that hit the opposition defender and was cleared off the line. Immediately, Bruun hit a forced volley that was again deflected by the defence. Weir then tapped in the rebound to make it 0-1. There were no further chances until the final minutes of the first half when Feller, making her 100th appearance for Madrid, hit the post from Yasmim's pass (43').
After the break, the game was evenly poised and neither side was able to create any real danger. In the 66th minute, after just coming on, Redondo had the chance to extend the lead with a header inside the box that went narrowly wide. However, the home side brought the game back into the game through Edna, who beat Chavas with a good shot in the box. Our team continued to apply pressure and, in the 85th minute, M. Méndez slipped a great pass to Linda Caicedo. Inside the box, the Colombian took advantage of the assist with a right-footed shot to score the final 1-2.
