Courtois: 'It was a very important win'

2 month(s)

Courtois was interviewed by Realmadrid TV after The Whites‘ win against Real Sociedad. The Belgian said: ‘It was a very important victory. Playing here is very tough, especially at the start of the season. It was a difficult game after the international break and with teammates on long trips. It wasn't our best game and the posts helped. In the second half we played better, created danger and got two clear penalties. Vini and Mbappé finished well and we kept another clean sheet.'

‘It's special to reach 100 clean sheets with Real Madrid. It's not always easy to keep a clean sheet. We do a great job as a team and it showed today. When we keep a clean sheet we usually win. I hope to raise this figure a little bit this season.'

High level at the start of the season
‘I feel good and comfortable. That's three clean sheets already and we've only conceded two goals. I feel good and I'm training hard. Last year I had to watch a lot of games from the sidelines, but now I'm very happy to be playing a lot of games.'

Vini-Mbappé partnership
‘They're getting better and better together. They created a lot of danger, with them we create a lot of danger and they will carry on scoring a lot of goals.'

Champions League debut
‘We're happy to be playing at home and especially in the Champions League. This season we have to get used to the new format and we have to win our home games no matter what. I hope we start well, with the support of the fans and finish with another clean sheet.'
