Castilla get the better of Recreativo
1 week(s)
Real Madrid Castilla came out on top against Recreativo de Huelva in their Primera Federación matchday 17 fixture. The madridistas went ahead early on through Gonzalo's (9’) superb header, extending his impressive scoring run. Serrano levelled proceedings on 32’, but in the second half Víctor Muñoz put our side back in front and that was enough to secure the three points (53’).
Recreativo fired off a warning shot with the first dangerous moment of the game, but Castilla reacted swiftly and began to take control of the clash. Our team were edging closer to the opener, and with nine minutes gone they went ahead. David Jiménez whipped in a superb free kick and Gonzalo rose highest to head home.
Raúl's team were far superior throughout the first half an hour and could have extended their lead, only to see the game level on 32' when Serrano turned the ball into the net. After the break, the academy outfit went back in front thanks to Víctor Muñoz, who tucked the ball in at the front post following a superb piece of play by Gonzalo.
Solid defence secures the points
Shortly after the goal, the madridistas claimed a penalty when Antonio López touched the ball with his hand in the box, but the referee waved away the appeals. The opposition were pushing on in search of an equaliser but Castilla's resolute defending ensured the scores remained the same. Our youth team now close out the year against Ceuta next weekend.
