Ancelotti: 200 Champions League matches as coach
1 month(s)
Carlo Ancelotti is the first coach to oversee 200 Champions League matches. The Italian reached this milestone in the draw against Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabéu. Nobody has reached this milestone in this format since it was first introduced in the 1992/93 season, with only the final stages of the competition being considered and not the qualifying rounds.
The Italian coach's Champions League appearances are divided between 21 campaigns and eight teams: Parma (6), Juventus (10), Milan (73), Chelsea (18), PSG (10), Bayern Munich (12), Napoli (12) and Real Madrid (59). He is also the only coach to have won this competition four times (twice with Real Madrid and twice with Milan) and the coach to have won the most matches (114).
Ancelotti: "Reaching 200 games in the Champions League means a lot"
"It's a great achievement. I remember my first game, it was against Sparta Prague when I was at Parma. At that time, reaching 200 games meant a lot. It's been an achievement to survive so many years in football, especially at my age.
