94 years ago on this day, one of the greatest goalkeeping legends of Real Madrid and world football made his debut. Ricardo Zamora made his first official appearance as a Madridista on 5 October 1930. It was in a Regional Championship against Racing Madrid and the Whites won 3-2.
Zamora was Real Madrid's goalkeeper until 1936, during which time he amassed 2 league titles, 2 Copa de España trophies, 1 Regional Championship and 5 Commonwealth Championships. Nicknamed El Divino, he played 152 official matches as a Madridista. His last game was a memorable one: the 1936 Copa final against Barcelona at Mestalla. In that Clásico, his spectacular saves were instrumental in his securing the trophy for the last time.
