Today marks the 59th anniversary of Real Madrid's 11th league title. On 18 April 1965, the Whites secured the title on the final day of the season with a 1-0 away win over Sevilla, with Puskas scoring the only goal of the game. Miguel Muñoz's team lifted their fifth consecutive league title.
Real Madrid finished the 1964/65 campaign with a four-point lead over Atlético Madrid. On an individual level, Betancort won the Zamora Trophy, while Grosso was the team's top scorer with 17 goals.
“It wasn't an easy game and we competed in the best way possible," he said after the win at the Nuevo Los Cármenes.
